Hongshuiquan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Hongshuiquanzi north of Dayinuogaigou (gully), to the northwest of Heishantou Township, Ergun Right Banner, Inner Mongolia. It was named by Yu Jianzhang in 1956.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone, Sandstone and Limestone. Clastic rocks intercalated with limestone. The lower and middle parts are dominated by light-gray to green-gray silty mudstone and clayey siltstone, intercalated with sandy conglomerate and conglomerate, with light-gray and purple gray pebbled quartzose sandstones at bottom. The upper part consists of brown-gray, dark-gray to light-gray medium- and fine-grained lithic feldspar-rich sandstone and bioclastic limestone. The sediments are fining upward. Exposed thickness 1060 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Unconformable contact with the Lower Cambrian Ergunhe Gr in type section; but regionally the next lower unit is the uppermost Devonian Shangdaminshan Fm volcanic
Upper contact
Unclear upper limit; next younger unit is the Moergenhe Fm.
Regional extent
Distributed in areas such as Hongshuiquanzi of the Ergun Right Banner, the Hadatu Pasture of Chen Barag Banner, Danangou of Yakeshi City, the lower reaches of Weina River in the Ewenki Autonomous Banner, and Anqingtai River of Butha Banner.

Fossils
Abundant Brachiopods, which can be divided into two assemblages: the Lower part is dominated by the Rugauria-Sphenospira assemblage, with the main elements of Rugauria inica, Sphenospira julii, Leptagonia analoga, Cyptospirifer ivanovae, Steihagella kusbassica, Fusella duchovae, F. ussiensis, etc.; the Upper part is by the FusElla tornacensis-Syringothyris cf. altaica assemblage, with the major elements of F. kondomensis, G. taidonensis, F. pesasica, F. textus, etc.
